Description:
Penetrant testing is a highly sensitive, non-destructive testing procedure for identifying surface flaws (such as cracks, pores, cavities or fusing flaws) on non-porous parts, such as metals, plastics, glazed ceramics and the like. Among other concepts, the theoretical portion addresses the physical and technical differences between dye penetrant testing and fluorescent penetrant testing as well as flaw inspection according to EN and AMSE regulations. The practical portion of the training covers the testing of parts with natural flaws as well as the handling of testing problems that arise. The course ends with an exam and certification according to ÖNORM EN 473.

Magnetic particle testing serves for detecting material separations at the surface or near the surface of ferromagnetic parts (iron, cobalt, nickel, ferromagnetic steels). The course includes the physical and technical principles of the procedure, procedure limits, testing problems, safety precautions, flaw inspection according to EN and ASME regulations, magnetization methods as well as the use of testing systems and devices in both theory and practice. The course contents are taught to the participants through lectures and practical exercises. The course ends with an exam and certification according to ÖNORM EN 473.

Ultrasound testing is a volumetric procedure for identifying material flaws by subjecting the parts to ultrasound waves from a test probe. This knowledge is put into practice in hands-on exercises involving flaw inspection according to EN and ASME regulations on parts with artificial and natural flaws. The course ends with an exam and certification according to ÖNORM EN 473.

10 years after completing the first exam in a non-destructive testing procedure, ÖNORM EN 473 requires the recertification in a corresponding procedure. Practical exercises involve flaw inspection according to EN and ASME standards as well as the inspection of natural parts and creating a set of testing instructions according to standards (level 2 only).
